Reiki Near Me? (Or is it Sometimes Best to Travel?)

It’s a curious thing, but one of the most common Google Reiki search term phrases is ‘Reiki near me’.

On the one hand, this makes sense. After all, why travel far away when you don’t need to?

And if all Reiki courses and healing sessions are the same, this would be logical.

But are they really the same?

And if you are looking for a Reiki healing session, is that even the best thing for you?

Or would a Reiki course be more suitable?

To better understand the pros and cons of Reiki courses and healing sessions and whether – at least at times – it is worth your while to travel, read on…

No Two Reiki Practitioners are the Same

People often don’t think much about it, and in a way it shouldn’t really be a surprise, but the truth is, Reiki practitioners vary wildly in skill and experience.

In fact, choosing a Reiki teacher/practitioner is a bit like choosing a car. Just as every brand and model differs from the others, so too do Reiki healers.

So you need to take care when choosing one, for depending on your choice, your experience will be massively different.

Admittedly, when it comes to Reiki practitioners and healing sessions, the difference is less pronounced, and almost everyone – so long as they are actually practising Reiki – should do a reasonable job.

But with courses, the differences are startling.

Here we are not just talking about how long they run for (some, crazily, are little more than 3-4 hours, which is nowhere near long to teach the contents of a Reiki level).

And we’re not just talking about the Reiki manual and the pre and post-course materials that should come with a Reiki course (or the absence of them!).

Nope. Perhaps the most critical things are the experience, communication and teaching skills of the teacher.

Combined, they will either make for an exhilarating, life-changing experience, or one that is mediocre at best.

But Why Should I Even Consider a Reiki Course? (I Just Want a Healing Session!)

A lot of people who call me are simply looking to book a Reiki healing session.

In fact, they have never even considered the possibility of learning Reiki.

They just want a quick fix to an issue, and they want to find someone who can fix the issue for them.

This sounds reasonable, but depending on the issue, a Reiki course may well be the FAR better option.

In particular, if you are looking to work on a chronic condition (for your health, your emotions, or a lifestyle issue), then you’d almost certainly do best to learn Reiki.

Not only will the healing from 2 days of Reiki training and practice be far more powerful than a Reiki session, it will also enable you to heal yourself.

What’s more, since a lot of chronic issues will take time to heal, it will become expensive to see a Reiki healer for multiple sessions.

Indeed, if you need healing over a period of months, it will become way more expensive than a Reiki course.

It will also – ironically given that you are using the Reiki search phrase ‘Reiki near me’ – be inconvenient.

For even if your Reiki healer is near you, you will still need to travel to your session, and you’ll still need to leave your home. If you are either busy or unwell, this can be taxing.

Worse still, for chronic issues like stress, a healing session here and there will rarely do you a lot of good long-term.

Yes, you’ll probably feel good for a few days (maybe even a week) after the session, but after that, the ‘gravitational’ pull of your everyday life will reassert itself, and you can easily end up more or less back where you started.

If you learn Reiki, however, you will not only be self-empowered, you’ll also be able to work on yourself whenever needed, and as a result, create shifts that last for good.

But is Reiki hard to learn?

Not at all.

In fact, learning Reiki is a breeze.

You don’t need any special healing skills or experience.

You don’t need to spend years of your life slogging through difficult-to-learn materials.

No. You just need to rock up to any good Reiki course for a weekend, and you’ll leave with the ability to heal both yourself and others with Reiki energy.

So When is a Reiki Session the best Choice?

If you need healing for an acute (i.e. short-term) condition (e.g. the flu), then a Reiki session is an excellent option.

A healing session also works beautifully if you are in a dark or difficult place and need to shift your state.

Maybe you are depressed after the loss of a loved one or a separation.

Maybe you are going through an unusually stressful period at work.

In such cases, you don’t need a long-term fix. You are just looking for a boost to get you over a hump.

In that case, a Reiki session is a great choice.

Even so, if you want to get the absolute maximum from a Reiki session, what you will want to do is take the momentum you get from it (the feeling of wellbeing, the clarity, the positivity, etc.) and run with it.

You’ll want to use the energetic boost it gives you to make shifts in your life, and in that way, create positive changes.

Finally, sometimes you simply can’t find a good Reiki course, or for whatever reason, attending one for a weekend just isn’t possible.

In that case, a Reiki healing session may well be your best option.

Conclusion

Whether or not it is a good idea to travel for your Reiki will depend a lot on what you are hoping to get from it.

If you want to work on an acute issue, then a healing session will most likely be a great idea, and for that you will often be able to get away with simply booking in to see the Reiki healer closest to you.

If you are working on a chronic issue, a course will generally be the best choice. In that case, you’d do well to find the best teacher you can, and then make the effort to travel if needed.

Ultimately, the benefits you’ll get from a well-taught course will make any amount of travel worth it.

I, personally, have travelled all around the world to learn Reiki from many teachers, and know first-hand that whatever ‘sacrifices’ I have made have always been quickly repaid.

So where needed, put in a little extra effort and travel (at least if a Reiki course is the best option).

Do that and you’ll be amazed at the long-term benefits you’ll receive from learning Reiki properly.

Indeed, fairly soon, I suspect you’ll even decide that learning Reiki was one of the best things you have ever done.
